It is important to understand what physical and psychological changes you will experience that may impact your dance training. π§
Growth spurts (puberty) will differ between individuals and each dancer will experience slightly different changes and endure it for varying lengths of time. (We canβt control this)π§πΌπΆπΌ
Here are the 3 main changes you may experience.ππ»
β
*οΈYour flexibility and strength may decrease as your bones can grow quicker than the muscles during puberty. Meaning that you could be more vulnerable to injury. -
*οΈYour balance, technical skill and control may weaken due to your limbs growing at different rates to the torso. -
*οΈYou may lack confidence or self esteem as your feel as though you cannot perform to a level in which you were once able.

As dancers we have to accept that the body will eventually catch up. π΅πΌ

Embrace the growth spurt, ride the physical and psychological rollercoaster and do your best to keep up your strength and morale. π’
β
It is important to remember that having a positive perspective on puberty will reinforce the need for patience. ππ»
